Downtown Los Angeles Skyline at Night

i’ve taken a position with curbed la

A lot of changes have occurred here at angelenic over the past month, and that will continue as I start my new writing gig over at Curbed LA, the Los Angeles neighborhoods and real estate blog.  I’ll be covering Downtown’s development scene with a hands-on approach, similar to angelenic’s construction news.

Since Curbed is mainly about development, I’ll still be able to keep my retail and restaurant news here at angelenic.

And I got off to a good start with coverage of the Grand Avenue Civic Park meeting and a new Wilshire Blvd. office development — by some accounts the first new office construction to begin in years.

Thanks to the Curbed Network for the opportunity!

Congratulations, Rich! Best of luck at the new position.

I’m glad you’ll still be involved with Angelenic. I died a little less inside after reading that. :P

We may have to arm-wrestle over the restaurant coverage though.

Great news for you. I saw your posts on Curbed today, and even made a few comments. Good luck with the sharks over there.

Congrats, Rich. As Shannon said, you’re the “bestest.” Good to hear you’ll stick around.

This is good news. I’m very happy for you. When changes were announced last month, I was dismayed. I was concerned I wouldn’t have an opportunity to read your work. You have a distinct voice and this is the most important thing for a writer. I also appreciated and enjoyed your enthusiasm for downtown. Almost pitch perfect in my opinion. I look forward to your growth as a writer.

I might even venture back to Curbed L.A. I’d soured on the site last summer because the tone had become so relentlessly bitchy and glib. I assume the grind takes its toll. Attitude can help overcome writer’s block. Alas, the results are not always pretty. Hopefully, you can bring some adult supervision to matters. They have useful things to say, but the tone kept going in odd directions. And yes, as pointed out, the commentators are an unpleasant bunch.

Best of luck.
