Pussy & Pooch (or just P&P if you can't help but giggle) -- the Historic Core's fanciful new pet store -- is presenting itself as a "boutique pet cafe and patio." The new retailer officially opened yesterday on the ground level of the Santa Fe Lofts at Main and 6th in a 3,200 square-foot space.
This "urban pet destination" offers products such as organic pet food, bakery treats, stylish pet accessories, premium spa products and a self-service pet washing station dubbed the Bathhouse.
One of the more unique amenities is the Pawbar, set to dazzle pet-lovers with "an in-store food counter serving raw meat and bones, simmered stews, dog beer, doggie frozen yogurt and more, with ‘seats’ for 3 dogs at a time.”
As if that’s not enough, the owners plan to host guest chefs and organize cooking classes to teach owners how to pamper their furry friends at home. Think of it as Fifi and Romeo meets Dean & Deluca for your cat and dog.
Remember the days when our pussies were happy with Fancy Feast? Oh, the times are a changin’ on the ol’ Skid Row.

I think the owners should have gone with Pussy & Poochie….well that is at least what I get with my last name…very clever.

Actually, Dick’s Sporting Goods will be merging with Chick’s Sporting Goods(more familiar to us SoCal folks). The company will be known as…Chick’s With Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Buddy and I finally made it over there a couple of days ago. The place is so wonderfully nuts… and in a good way. Most of the stuff they carry is more useful than cutesy. Of course there’s the dog beer which Buddy didn’t like. He did like the fancy raw entrees that he was lucky enough to sample. Then again, I recently had to pull part of a McDonald’s burger from his jaw that picked up on Mateo.
The owners are very nice. They carry the right brand of dog food. We’ll be back for sure.
