Angelenic is the essential news resource for those living, working and visiting Downtown Los Angeles. Check out our BonChon Chicken, New York City's popular Korean fried chicken (or "KFC") eatery, is coming to Koreatown!

The karaoke-and-chicken lounge is currently building out its new location in the Royal Plaza on the northwest corner of 6th and Catalina.

BonChon offers its "tasteful and nutritiously-enriched" crispy confections in Hot Spicy and Soy Garlic flavors alongside a variety of non-chicken items, such as pickled radishes and soju. "At BonChon, it's all about eating healthy -- minimized fat, high in protein, and low in cholesterol."

That's quite the claim for a restaurant that double deep-fries its buttermilk-soaked chicken to achieve that extra crispiness. But apparently they have a winning recipe as the NY Times and Yelp critics extend their universal praise.

Hopefully West Coasters will have the same sentiment, as BonChon will be contending locally with Kyochon — another “KFC” chain with a devout fan-base — also located on 6th near Serrano.
