Ruby Table, a new Japanese tapas and Asian fusion eatery, will soon fill a 1,700 square foot space inside The Mercury’s two-story retail arcade at Wilshire and Western.
The locally-owned restaurant is expected to debut in February and is described by the owner as a “fun, casual place to go with your friends and family.”
Apparently, family will play a big part at Ruby Table as the owner’s aunt will be head chef. She’s concocting a menu of izakaya-style small plates that will appeal to Koreatown locals. Lunch hours are planned, with dinner lasting until 11pm or later if business can support it.
Establishing a night-time clientèle shouldn’t be difficult since Koreatown is already a 24-hour destination. A liquor license anticipated in April should help maintain the later crowd, in addition to two massive pedestrian-oriented developments under construction at the same intersection.
Keep it in mind next time you’re at the Wiltern.
